Former RB Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl reaches agreement with Liverpool

According to French media Sports ZoneLiverpool and Bayern Munich have both reached an agreement with former Red Bull Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl.

Eberl, who was sacked as RB Leipzig’s sporting director in September, is currently observing a period of Garden Leave. His exit from the club came amidst strong rumours of a move to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, who dismissed Hasan Salihamidzic at the end of their title-winning campaign.

Eberl has an agreement in place to join the Bavarian club, however, as he is currently observing a period of Garden Leave, he is prevented from signing with Bayer Munich. The German wants to join Bayern Munich, however, if that is not possible, he could join Premier League side Liverpool, whom he has also agreed to join. Jorg Schmadtke currently occupies the sporting director role at Liverpool on a short-term basis. He replaced Julian Ward, who only lasted a year at the club.
