Yann Le Meur to replace James Bunce as Monaco’s director of performance

AS Monaco have announced that director of performance James Bunce is set to leave the club at the end of the month. He will be replaced by Yann Le Meur, who has been promoted internally.

Bunce arrived at Monaco just over three years ago and has spearheaded a restructuring of the club’s performance department. His departure comes just weeks after former sporting director Paul Mitchell’s departure was officialised.

Bunce is replaced by Le Meur. The 42-year-old Frenchman, who has a doctorate in exercise physiology, has been the club’s head of athletic development since 2022, having previously occupied the role of head of sports science between 2016 and 2019. Le Meur will officially take the reigns in November with Bunce remaining with Les Monégasques to oversee the transition, just as Mithcell did with new sporting director Thiago Scuro. In an official communiqué, released on Friday, Monaco thanked Bunce for his commitment and professionalism.
