Monaco’s Caio Henrique to undergo surgery on ACL injury

AS Monaco manager Adi Hütter has confirmed that Caio Henrique (26) will undergo surgery on the ACL injury suffered during Friday’s defeat against OGC Nice.

The injury was suffered in the second half against Nice, and whilst the Brazilian was able to continue for around 30 minutes following the contact, the severity of the injury became clearer following further tests. On Tuesday, Monaco released the following statement:

“Caio Henrique has a sprain on the left knee with an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament being evaluated.”

Speaking at Thursday’s pre-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Hütter confirmed that the Brazilian left-back, who tops Ligue 1’s assist charts (4), will undergo surgery on the injury. “He is going for surgery. For this injury, it’s not the same for every player but I want him back as quickly as possible. I can’t say exactly [how long he’ll be absent]. Perhaps six, seven, or eight months,” said the Austrian manager. It therefore looks touch-and-go as to whether Henrique will feature again this season.

Monaco have the right to sign a player as a ‘joker’ transfer, however, Hütter seemed to dispel the idea of signing a replacement. “We have a replacement in this position in (Ismail) Jakobs,” he said.
