Monaco’s Takumi Minamino a doubt to face Marseille

AS Monaco’s Takumi Minamino (28) is a doubt to face Olympique de Marseille on Saturday. The Japanese forward was absent from training on Thursday.

Minamino has been Monaco’s standout player this season, winning the Ligue 1 Best Player Award for the month of August, and has featured in all of the Principality club’s games this season. However, that run could come to an end against Marseille. Get French Football News attended Monaco’s first-team training session on Thursday morning, and Minamino was a notable absentee.

His absence was then explained by manager Adi Hütter, who said, “Yesterday, he felt a bit of adductor pain. We decided that he won’t train today, just to be safe,” said the Monaco manager. He will have little time to recover in order to be ready to face Les Phocéens on Saturday evening.

Edan Diop could be included in the matchday squad, having trained with the first team for the past 10 days. Eliesse Ben Seghir has only just returned to first-team training and will not be fit to face Marseille. Aleksandr Golovin in suspended.
