Monaco predicted XI v Marseille: depleted Monégasques could change system

AS Monaco are without several key players as they welcome Olympique de Marseille to the Stade Louis II on Saturday night.

As well as the suspension of Aleksandr Golovin, the Principality club are without Caio Henrique, who may not feature again this season, and possibly without Takumi Minamino. The Japanese international has been Monaco’s stand-out player this season, but he has been suffering from adductor pain this week. As a result, he missed first-team training on Thursday and is therefore a doubt for Saturday.

The absences could force a rethink from Adi Hütter, who has so far this season deployed his side in a 3-4-3. With fewer options in the No 10 position, he could align two forwards for the first time. There may be just one No 10 position available. Maghnes Akliouche may be the top candidate to fill the role, should Minamino not be deemed fit enough. Krépin Diatta will also be in contention, but despite his return to first-team training Eliesse Ben Seghir won’t be involved.

Monaco likely lineup v Marseille

Philipp Köhn; Soungoutou Magassa, Guillermo Maripán, Wilfried Singo; Ismail Jakobs, Mohamed Camara, Youssouf Fofana, Vanderson; Maghnes Akliouche; Wissam Ben Yedder, Folarin Balogun.
