Marseille predicted XI v Monaco: Gennaro Gattuso to drop Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

According to L’Équipe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could drop to the bench in Gennaro Gattuso’s first game in charge of Olympique de Marseille. They face AS Monaco at the Stade Louis II on Saturday night.

It is difficult to say how Marseille will line up. Gattuso was hired on a one-season contract – with the possibility of extending – in midweek. In his presentation press conference, Gattuso announced a preference to deploy his side in either a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 formation. Marcelino’s 4-4-2 is therefore a thing of the past.

Gattuso is likely to deploy Jordan Veretout, Valentin Rongier and Azzedine Ounahi in midfield with Geoffrey Kondogbia still absent. However, his front line is more uncertain. L’Équipe believe that Vitinha could get the nod ahead of Aubameyang, whilst Joaquin Corréa and Iliman Ndiaye are favourites to start on the wing.
