Official | Former PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu signs for OGC Nice

OGC Nice have confirmed the signing of former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu (36). The Italian arrives on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at Fiorentina.

Nice have been in the market for a back-up for uncontested number one Marcin Bulka since deadline day. The Polish goalkeeper beat former Leicester City man Kasper Schmeichel to win the trust of Franceso Farioli, and therefore the number-one jersey. It was expected that whoever lost that battle would leave the club, and so it proved. Schmeichel’s contract, which had one year remaining, was terminated by mutual consent on deadline day.

Sirigu has been training at NIce’s training centre for the past fortnight whilst the medical staff ascertained his physical level. He was then on the bench as Nice beat PSG, his former club, 3-2 at the Parc des Princes on Friday night. He has now officially joined Les Aiglons, who have not confirmed the length of the Italian’s contract. L’Équipe have, however, previously reported that Sirigu has signed a one-year deal with the club.
