Igor Tudor set for shock Marseille return?

La Provence have revealed that Igor Tudor, who only left Olympique de Marseille in the summer, is in consideration for a shock return to the club.

Marseille’s search for Marcelino’s successor is in full swing. The Spaniard left the club on Wednesday following insults, threats and slander from Marseille’s supporters groups during a meeting on Monday. In the wake of the explosive meeting, President Pablo Longoria also temporarily stepped back from his role in order to consider his future. Having confirmed that he will remain at the club during a press conference on Friday, he now has the task of appointing Marseille’s new manager with former player Jacques Abardonado in charge on an interim basis.

Tudor, who left the club citing “professional and private” reasons halfway through his two-year deal in June, is being considered, according to La Provence. The Croat was exhausted from his spell at the Vélodrome, and whilst his name reappeared in conversations at the club on Monday, it remains to be seen whether a return is really on the cards.

Jaime Pacheco, Ruud Van Nistelrooy Julen Lopetegui and Roberto Donadoni have all been linked with the post. The latter three are not of interest to OM, per La Provence’s reporting. Christophe Galtier is seemingly the top candidate at this moment in time.
