Nice manager Lucien Favre after the defeat to Slovácko: “It’s certainly a shame”

Nice missed the chance to draw closer to the knock-out qualification of the Europa Conference League this season as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Slovácko on Thursday evening.

In the post-match press conference, Lucien Favre accepted that the defeat was a shame against a team that currently stands at the bottom of their respective group. As quoted by L’Équipe, the former Borussia Dortmund boss said:

“You are not the only ones who do not understand what happened. We rushed too much. We should have defended better, all together. Both goals are preventable. We are still in the hunt for qualification. There are two games left. But it sure is a shame after Partizan’s victory this evening. It’s very hard to digest.”

Following the defeat, Nice find themselves in the second spot with five points from four matches. At the top, Partizan have managed to create a three-point gap while staying at the top of the group. In the same competition, the Ligue 1 side next face Köln on October 27.
