West Ham make bid for FC Lorient’s Terem Moffi

According to Sky Sports News, West Ham United have offered £20m plus £5m in add-ons for FC Lorient’s Terem Moffi. The 23-year-old forward is the second-highest goalscorer in Ligue 1 this season, behind only Paris-Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé.

Lorient have seen a resurgence in the league this season after they came 16th in the last two Ligue 1 campaigns. They sit seventh in the league at this season’s halfway point, after Lille beat Troyes 5-1 earlier today. Moffi was Lorient’s only scorer in a 3-1 defeat to second-place Marseille yesterday.

West Ham United are 18th in the Premier League after a poor start to the league season. A move for the young Nigerian international should give the Hammers a badly-needed goalscoring threat – they have scored the second fewest number of goals of all 20 teams in the English top-flight in 2022/23.

In spite of this, West Ham still have European football to play this campaign, after they topped group B of the Europa Conference League in November. Their opponents for the next game in the last 16, to take place in March, will be made known after the Conference League play-offs in February.
