PSG’s Warren Zaïre-Emery: “We were out for revenge after Newcastle.”

Speaking to RMC Sport and Canal+ following Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League, midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery (17) spoke of Les Parisiens’ revenge mentality going into the match, coming after a 4-1 thrashing in the previous round of matches in the competition.

“We didn’t start very well and spoke during half-time,” began the France U21 captain, “at my age, you play, you enjoy yourself and you don’t think about anything else.”

“After the defeat against Newcastle, we were out for revenge, we came back to the Champions League and domestic competition to win all our games. We take a lot of pleasure in playing with each other, we’re a team and that shows on the pitch, we work hard for each other.

Zaïre-Emery was rested for the Milan clash, missing out for the first time this season for PSG during the 3-0 win at home against Strasbourg. Against Milan, the 17-year-old became the youngest player to register two assists in the Champions League, beating Theo Walcott’s record for Arsenal.
