Mauro Icardi leaves PSG for Galatasaray

Having enjoyed a return to form during his loan spell in Turkey this past season, Mauro Icardi has now made his move from Paris Saint-Germain to Galatasaray permanent, according to RMC Sport tonight.

The 30-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Süper Lig champions, who also saw former Marseille striker Cédric Bakambu arrive earlier today. The former Inter striker’s transfer fee has been estimated at €10m – five times less than the amount the French club paid to sign the Argentine from the Nerazzurri back in 2020, when his loan move was made permanent.

Despite a promising first campaign in the French capital – 20 goals in all competitions – Icardi was largely unable to replicate his Serie A form on the other side of the Alps. He struggled also struggled for playing time, in the shadow of the Lionel Messi-Neymar-Kylian Mbappé attacking trident. This year, he found the net 23 times.
