AS Monaco forward Kevin Volland (30), who sustained an injury during Les Monégasques’ draw against ESTAC Troyes over the weekend, is expected to be absent for “multiple weeks,” according to Nice-Matin.
The former Bayer Leverkusen has grappled with injuries throughout the current campaign. He missed the beginning of the season with a sprained ankle before suffering repeated issues with his ankles. He then suffered a bruised rib, which saw him miss a further six games.
The form of new arrival Breel Embolo, as well as Wissam Ben Yedder, who is the joint-second top scorer in Ligue 1 this season, will lessen the impact of the German international’s absence, which has been estimated at a few weeks.
Volland suffered the injury in a collision with Adil Rami and subsequently suffered a rib fracture. So far this season, Volland has made 16 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and registering two assists, including a hat-trick in a Europa League tie against Red Star Belgrade.
