Kasper Schmeichel’s Nice future in doubt with Marcin Bulka set to become new number one

L’Équipe are reporting that Marcin Bulka (23) looks set to be OGC Nice’s new number one, replacing Kasper Schmeichel (36), whose future at the Riviera club is now in doubt.

Bulka joined Nice from Paris Saint-Germain, initially on loan and then permanently. Having secured his €2m move last summer, Schmeichel arrived later in the window, displacing the Polish goalkeeper from the starting XI. However, according to L’Équipe, Bulka is now likely to take the number one jersey away from former Leicester City goalkeeper Schmeichel.

Les Aiglons are therefore willing to listen to offers for Schmeichel, who following a difficult start to life at Nice, had a very solid second half of last season. However, the decision has not yet been made, and lies with new manager Francesco Farioli. Neither Bulka nor Schmeichel are willing to be back-up, making a departure of one of the two Nice shotstoppers highly likley this summer.
