Manchester United in discussions to sign Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo

RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins is reporting that Manchester United are in discussions with OGC Nice over the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo (23).

The Red Devils’ interest in the Nice defender was revealed by Fabrizio Romano on Monday. Todibo is being targeted as a replacement for Harry Maguire (30), who is coveted by West Ham United. According to Hawkins, West Ham are accelerating their attempts to sign the England centre-back and are hopeful of concluding a deal.

Should that scenario come to pass, Manchester United will then target a move for Todibo. Discussions between the two clubs are ongoing, and the Premier League side are also in contact with the player’s entourage over a move. Speaking in July, Les Aiglons’ sporting director Florent Ghisolf said he was open to Todibo departing this summer. “If all parties are satisfied, a departure could happen,” said the former RC Lens sporting director.

Todibo is reportedly valued at between €40-50m. The former Barcelona defender, who last season was called up to Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the first time, has a contract that runs until 2027.
