Nantes interested in Troyes’ Derek Mazou-Sacko

L’Équipe are reporting that FC Nantes are interested in ESTAC Troyes midfielder Derek Mazou-Sacko (18), who has two years remaining on his current contract.

Mazou-Sacko, a France U18 international, who has one goal in his five appearances in bleu, made his debut for Troyes earlier this year. He started in a Coupe de France defeat against Lille OSC (0-2) in January but has largely competed in the National 3 this season. It is expected that the midfielder will have more chances to feature for Troyes’ first team between now and the end of the season.

Like many clubs in Ligue 1, including even Paris Saint-Germain of late, Nantes are turning their focus towards signing high-potential youngsters, a strategy that was evident during their January recruitment. It is a continuation of this strategy that has led to an interest in Troyes’ Mazou-Sacko, according to L’Équipe.

Mazou-Sacko has two years remaining on his deal at Troyes, and the club are not willing to part ways with their prospect, even if they are relegated to Ligue 2, and are even hoping to extend his contract.
