Official | Marquinhos extends contract with PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have this afternoon announced that captain Marquinhos has put pen to paper on a contract extension, taking his time in the French capital up to the end of the 2027/28 season.

The Brazilian international initially joined from Roma in 2013, and has gone on to clear 400 appearances for the club, winning seven Ligue 1 titles – soon to be eight – in the process. He is third in PSG’s all-time appearance list, and top in terms of matches played on the European stage.

This season has seen the 29-year-old struggle with injury at key stages of the campaign, although he has nevertheless made 43 appearances in all competitions. The centre-back is the latest key player to sign lengthy contract extensions, with midfielder Marco Verratti also renewing at the turn of the year, months after Kylian Mbappé’s much-publicised next deal which fended off interest from Real Madrid.

Marquinhos is expected to feature for PSG as they look to close out a record-breaking 11th Ligue 1 title in the last three games of the season, starting with a trip to face Auxerre on Sunday night.
