Leicester interested in Montpellier striker Stephy Mavididi

Although the club’s top scorer last season Elye Wahi is dominating the transfer headlines, another Montpellier forward in Stephy Mavididi could be set for a move to England this summer as well.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 25-year-old Englishman has caught the eye of Leicester, who were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season. The former Arsenal man, who has been at La Paillade for the last three seasons now, has been shortlisted by the Foxes as a potential attacking recruit.

Mavididi could also remain in Ligue 1, with Lille – who could lose their own star striker in Jonathan David – also interested, as well as Belgium’s Club Brugge.

The striker had initially joined Montpellier after a successful loan spell at Dijon, back when Juventus were his parent club. He scored nine and eight goals respectively in his first two campaigns at the club. He has somewhat conceded the limelight to Wahi this past year, having only found the net four times. He was nevertheless a key part of the team’s resurgence in the second half of the season after the return of Michel Der Zakarian on the bench, securing a comfortable mid-table finish.
