Saint-Étienne defender Saïdou Sow set to leave for Strasbourg

L’Équipe report this evening that Saint-Étienne defender Saïdou Sow is set to leave the Ligue 2 club for top-flight outfit Strasbourg, with a medical scheduled to take place tomorrow.

The 21-year-old Guinean international will move to Alsace for a transfer fee estimated at between €3m and €4m. He will leave his formative club having made 57 senior appearances across three seasons, including 28 in LIgue 1 and another 25 in their first season in the second tier last year. Sow was under contract with Les Verts for another two years.

The defender is the latest in a host of young players set to move to Strasbourg, who are now under the ownership of BlueCo, the Todd Boehly-led consortium that took over Chelsea last year. The Alsatians are also expected to wrap up the arrivals of Bordeaux pair Junior Mwanga and Dilane Bakwa, while the Premier League side are looking to loan out two Brazilians in Ângelo Gabriel and Deivid Washington to the Ligue 1 side as well.
