St Etienne targets Maiga and Erding Update

Updates from Monday 26th August on two of St-Etienne’s targets:

Modibo Maiga:

We, Get French Football News, understand that a loan deal for Maiga is unlikely to happen between West Ham and long time admirers Saint-Etienne. The Ligue 1 club are looking for a striker to replace Aubameyang, but the loan fee, an estimated 2.5 million euros, is preventing the deal from going ahead. This saga, which has been going from the start of the transfer window, appears to have reached its conclusion.

Mevlut Erding:

Contrary to reports published by various members of the British media, Mevlut Erding was in fact never close to a move to English club Stoke City. It was reported by the Daily Mail, amongst others, that Erding was watched by Stoke last weekend and that they were preparing a £5 million bid for the Rennes player, but now it transpires that Stoke were actually never close to signing him. Discussions are ongoing between St-Etienne and Rennes.
