Official | Rennes centre-backs Arthur Theate and Warmed Omari sign contract extensions until 2027

Rennes have officially announced this Thursday the contract extensions of centre-backs Arthur Theate (23) and Warmed Omari (23). The Belgium international and the Rennes youth product are now tied with Les Rouge et Noir with contracts set to expire in 2027.

Theate was the subject of reported interest from RB Leipzig and Premier League sides Fulham and Liverpool. Purchased by Rennes last year in a €19m move from Bologna, the former KRC Genk youth product quickly established himself as the leader of Rennes’ defense. “I’m happy in Rennes, the season promises to be exciting. We will do everything to make it a beautiful one. I want to stay here for a long time. My family feels good here, it’s perfect, Theate said. Rennes Sporting Director Florian Maurice added that the Belgian centre-back’s departure from Brittany was never really an option. “We’re very happy to extend his deal.

Bruno Genesio’s side also announced the contract extension of Omari, Rennes’ starting right-sided centre-back. The 23-year-old came through the ranks of Stade Rennais since his arrival at the club when he was 14. “I’m a Rennes kid. Since my debut with the senior squad, I grew up and became calmer and more mature. I want to keep showing what I can do.

Rennes president Olivier Cloarec mentioned that the Ligue 1 club has recently extended the deals of several youth products that went on to become important members of Genesio’s squad, like defender Jeanuël Belocian, right-back Lorenz Assignon, winger Désiré Doué and France international left-back Adrien Truffert. “It is important for the progress of the club to keep our best young players. Warmed demonstrates loyalty, and we are very proud of him.”

Rennes will host Lille OSC on Saturday for Ligue 1’s fifth gameweek.
