Chelsea’s Axel Disasi withdraws from France squad, Castello Lukeba called up as replacement

Saber Desfarges and RMC Sport have revealed that Axel Disasi (25), who was called up as a replacement for the injured Dayot Upamecano earlier on Monday, has withdrawn from the France squad.

Disasi initially missed out on Deschamps’ France squad to face the Netherlands and Scotland, however, amidst an injury crisis, which saw William Saliba, Jules Kouné and Upamecano pull out of the squad within 24 hours, the Chelsea midfielder got the call. He was expected at Clairefontaine on Monday night, however, the former AS Monaco defender sustained a quadriceps injury against Burnley.

RB Leipzig defender Lukeba, who had already been called up to the France U21 squad, has been called up as a replacement. Like Malo Gusto, who also received his first senior call-up on Monday, Lukeba is selected by Deschamps for the first time. The defender has begun well in the Bundesliga following his big-money move from formative club Olympique Lyonnais last summer.
