PSG rejected Manchester United and RB Leipzig offers for Xavi Simons

L’Équipe are reporting that Manchester United and RB Leipzig saw offers for Paris Saint-Germain’s Xavi Simons (20) rejected during the summer transfer window.

After selling Simons, who joined PSG from Barcelona at the age of 16, to PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2022, the Netherlands international returned to the Parc des Princes this summer. Les Parisiens activated the buy-back clause of €6m, before then immediately loaning him out to Leipzig. It has been reported by Le Parisien that his profile was too similar to that of Neymar, who has since departed, and Kylian Mbappé, hence a loan move was seen as the best option.

However, as revealed by L’Équipe, PSG had options to sell the forward this summer. The Ligue 1 champions received two big offers, one from Manchester United, and the other from Leipzig. These were rejected as it was stipulated that if Simons was sold before a certain date, which has not yet been reached, PSV would receive the fee, not PSG. Les Parisiens won’t be able to sell him next summer either, according to L’Équipe. Negotiations are ongoing with Leipzig about extending his contract for a further season.
