Official | Nantes sign Marquinhos on loan from Arsenal

Ligue 1 side Nantes have this afternoon announced the arrival of Brazilian winger Marquinhos on loan from Arsenal until the end of the campaign, with no option to make the move permanent included in the deal.

The 20-year-old joined the Premier League club from São Paulo last summer. He made six appearances in the first half of the campaign, finding the net once in the Europa League, before going out on loan to Championship side Norwich. With the Canaries, he made 11 appearances and also scored one goal.

He now joins France’s own Canaris in Nantes, and becomes the club’s fourth signing of the summer. Last year, the team survived relegation by the skin of their teeth. A final-day win over Angers – their first in over three months – saw them leapfrog Auxerre and climb out of the relegation zone. This season, under former caretaker Pierre Aristouy, they likely face another struggle in the bottom reaches of the table. Nantes kick off their campaign against Toulouse tomorrow.
